The Japan Karate Association (JKA) is the only karate entity officially recognized by the Japanese government as a legal association (Shadan Hojin) for the global promotion of authentic Shotokan Karate.

JKA is the preserver of Kokufu-Bunka Karate-Do — karate rooted in the ancient traditions of Bushido (The Way of the Samurai).

What is Shotokan Karate?

Shotokan Karate is one of the most widely practiced and respected martial arts styles worldwide. It emphasizes:

  • Kihon (Basic Techniques)

  • Kata (Forms that simulate combat against multiple attackers)

  • Kumite (Sparring with a partner)

Through consistent training, students develop powerful, dynamic techniques with precision, timing, and control.
