Welcome to Namibia Japan Karate Association

Affiliated with the Japan Karate Association, Tokyo – The Keepers of Karate's Highest Tradition

Welcome to the official website of JKA Shotokan Karate Namibia, the home of authentic Japanese Karate. For over 30 years, we have been dedicated to promoting traditional Shotokan Karate as taught by the Japan Karate Association (JKA) – the world’s largest and most prestigious karate organization, founded in 1949 in Tokyo, Japan.

We are proudly affiliated with the JKA Headquarters, ensuring that every belt grading, instructor qualification, and examiner certification is globally recognized and adheres to the highest standards of traditional karate.

Why Train with JKA Namibia? – Authentic, Disciplined, and Recognized Worldwide

In a world filled with imitation karate schools, JKA Namibia stands firm in upholding the true spirit of Karate-Do. Our mission is not only to teach effective self-defense but to cultivate discipline, respect, perseverance, and personal growth in every student.

  • World-Recognized Grades: All our Dan (black belt) gradings are examined by official JKA examiners from Japan.

  • Certified Instructors: Every instructor holds legally recognized qualifications as instructors, judges, and examiners, graded directly by the JKA in Tokyo.

  • International Training & Seminars: We continuously improve by training with global masters in Karate, Judo, and MMA, ensuring our students receive a diverse and effective martial arts education.

Karate is a Way of Life – Fitness, Discipline & Personal Development

At JKA Namibia, karate is more than a sport — it is a lifestyle of self-improvement. Training in traditional Shotokan Karate develops:

  • Physical Fitness: Build strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance.

  • Mental Focus: Improve concentration, discipline, and emotional control.

  • Leadership & Communication Skills: Karate fosters mutual respect, teaching students to help each other grow — an essential foundation for leadership and teamwork.

  • Character Building: Karate teaches humility, perseverance, and the Bushido spirit (The Way of the Samurai).

As O-Sensei Gichin Funakoshi, the father of modern karate, said:

"Karate-do is not merely a sport that teaches how to strike and kick; it is also a defense against illness and disease."
